Thing 16 - Wiki

I like the PW and St. Joseph's County wikis, nice ways to get more information out there to their communities. One question I have is who is responsible for these, do they have staff dedicated to such projects? Also, do they have constraints due to being part of a local government system?

Thing 15 - Library 2.0

Re: Icebergs - the "just in case collection" - this one seems most appropriate right now in LCPL, as we are continuing heavy weeding in all collections. Trimming the Reference collection was quite the exercise, and it was time to do so. As I keep workin on the adult NF and Fiction, it's great to have some open shelves in anticipation of new books, not to mention making it easier for the Pages to shelve.
Just last night I helped a patron download an Eaudiobook, which she is enjoying while she recovers from surgery. It's really a good feeling to know that patrons have new ways to use our materials, even when they cannot come to our buildings.

Technorati - Thing #14

I'd seen Technorati tags before on other blogs, now I know what they mean. The "Learning 2.0" search was interesting, I think I would use the Blog Directory search most often as it seems to be the most targeted search (72 hits with it; Tags search had 270 blog posts, 87 photos, 20 videos; Blog Posts had 30,606 hits). I wasn't too interested in the Popular page as most of the listings were on technology/geeky stuff.

Del.icio.us

Using Del.icio.us seems to be easy, and quicker than scrolling through bookmarks (which I don't organize except by name). Now to find the time to go back and convert to del.icio.us.

Maybe I will actually find out what books and how many are stashed all over my house if I continue listing them in Library Thing. A long-term project for sure.

I can't get the html for my tag cloud to post properly, will keep trying.
